About Hazel
I'm 'wordy'. Even my kids will tell you that!
I have always loved to write. I spent a childhood writing stories, and creating my own newspapers. I grew up to gain a First Class Honours degree in English, and I love literature, poetry, the history of language... in short, I'm a word nerd.
Before going freelance, I worked as a Features Editor on a Vintage Lifestyle magazine. I relished the chance to work on a topic I am very passionate about – vintage fashion! I was in my element, researching, writing and editing about all things vintage. My remit included fashion history, vintage-inspired style and beauty, weddings and sourcing/caring for vintage items. (And so much more, I could talk about this all day!)
I interviewed stars of stage and screen such as Paloma Faith and Dawn O’Porter, to consistently provide high quality, engaging content. I am so proud to have seen these pieces in print, and on the covers of this magazine.
Alongside my love of vintage, I am a yoga teacher, parent and music enthusiast. My knowledge of 70s rock music is pretty solid.
When I’m not at my laptop or on my yoga mat, I’m usually outside with my fabulous children. We hike, walk, and rollerskate with far more enthusiasm than skill.
Working with words:
I've been working with words since graduating. In fact, my dissertation was selected for a Script-in-Hand showcase. It was performed at the university’s theatre and I was later asked to talk about this process at a New Writers’ Conference the following year. From there, I went on to lead several scriptwriting workshops at Stockport College.
As a content and copywriter, I love to research new things, and am excited to take on new projects. I have worked with a diverse profile of clients, and I pride myself on strong interpersonal skills to help people distill their core message, and developing clear tone and ‘voice’ to create cohesive pieces of work.
My specialities are yoga, wellbeing, vintage clothing, vintage style/history, and music.
